Mixed Media

"Any musician who has ever tried to create a rock song with a single instrument knows how hard it is to get those sweet drum rolls in there with, say, a single electric guitar. It just doesn't work. Similarly, I like to create my own symphonic artworks using, sometimes, as many instruments as I can get my hands on. At times, what can't be said with a paintbrush can be described in silk screen or pastel. These mixed media works reflect my tendency and ability to pull from many tools of artistic expression, creating in the end what I hope will be a full on rock concert, so to speak."

Dolan Geiman's original mixed media works are tactile creations executed on recycled MDO plywood, a marine-grade plywood which prevents against warping, or other recycled wood panels. Incorporating a variety of artistic techniques including painting, printmaking, collage, and found object assemblage, these one-of-a-kind creations are well suited for homes urban and country. All paint is recycled paint from the City of Chicago's paint exchange program and silk screened images are hand-printed with water-based textile inks.

Archival reproductions on paper and wood of many originals are available. Also check out the selection of Original Mixed Media Collections, works that can be custom ordered at any time.
